Beach walk

I spent a lovely day on the beach not long ago. Our winter has been mild, little rain or cold days. It allows for beautiful days to wander the beach. Driving through hilly green pastures, stopping at the cheese factory for local brie. The joy of the beach is also the journey of getting there. Once on the beach the wind was mild, the smell of sea salt tangy and sharp, bird songs clear and crisp, the waves crashing on the shore. There are few shells on this beach but many a scattered bird feather. Not much to be found to put in my pocket as I so like to do. I always wonder why some beaches are so good for treasures and others not. The treasures I found this time where just peace of mind and tired muscles after a nice long walk-good for the soul. Although I've not been posting much my thoughts are with you all.

  1. My beach adventures now are nothing like they were when I was a child. I remember climbing huge rocks and finding sea enemies with my dad. We also found the most gorgeous sea glass in an array of colors. My dad would hunt for unique driftwood and turn it into collages and wall hangings and plant holders and he even made a giant table out of a piece once.

I never seem to see anything like that at the beaches I go to now. However, I did come back with mint green colored sea glass from Capri back in 2006! But that's not California. The California beaches are not what they used to be and how I remember them being at age 5.

Thank you for sharing your gorgeous pictures.

  4. It's true - not all beaches have treasures - must have something to do with currents. But on every beach you can listen to the sea - there is nothing that can calm my spirit better. Lucky you to live so close to the beach...

  5. That sounds wonderful!! Our beach is much the same - often we find nothing at all, but then again suddenly we find many of the same shells. It must have something to do with the currents... Glad you found some peace of mind!! Hugs, Silke

  7. You may be wondering why I have time to blog? on a sunday too!!! eleven days in bed is driving me mad - I am not a good patient, the highlight of my day is a trip to the loo which takes an age as I shuffle along - but the op was a success and I'm impatiently waiting to heal.... I spent a lovely morning visiting blogs - its like going down memory lane, visiting old friends and trying to catch up ...wish I had the time normally - but life is so manic now with work home and my course...my convalescence is in lent so I'm taking the time to read and think and be still and notice the simple pleasures of life...

  12. That picture you've posted is truly moving. The scenery makes me want to walk on its sand and have some quiet time for myself. The environment does make for a good opportunity to do some reflection. It sets the mood. =)

  22. Dear Lorrie,

Thank you for your kind kind comment about the loss of our beloved Lady. She was one of a kind, and I know you understand the loss of pets who are family - who are a part of our hearts. I know you're not blogging right now, but I didn't have an email address so I hope you get this. It was just so kind of you to take the time to express your sympathy, and it meant a lot to me. — Leslie
