Sweet honey

Last night as I was sleeping, I dreamt-marvelous error! that I had a beehive here inside my heart. And the golden bees were making white combs and sweet honey from my old failures. Antonio Machado

I love this quote, sometimes I want to wish my past away. But when I read this quote I realized that I need my past it makes me who I am today. I can learn to make it a precious treasure and not a bitter remembrance. The art work is by esty artist Michele Maule.

  3. I've always loved that quote and you are so right about our past making us who we are. I always think that if I am ok with who I am right now, everything in my past will have made sense and had a purpose! I so love my visits to your blog, Lorrie!! What an inspiration you are!! Love, Silke

  4. I'm so glad you posted this! The hive image was a great paring with the Machado verse. I haven't thought about him in years and he has always been one of my favorites. The verse you posted is more positive than the one of his I committed to memory, his uneasy "carpe diem"...

The wind, one brilliant day, called
to my soul with an odor of jasmine.

"In return for the odor of my jasmine,
I'd like all the odor of your roses."

"I have no roses; all the flowers
    in my garden are dead."

"Well then, I'll take the withered petals
and the yellow leaves and the waters of the fountain."

The wind left. And I wept. And I said to myself:
"What have you done with the garden that was entrusted to you?"

  8. I don't know anything about your past but if your writing is a true reflection of what you are today then your past did a good job.
