My back yard was a former garden, full of flowers, vegetables, and fruit trees. One of the only plants I have of that former paradise is an old fashion rose bush. I like to think  I honor the former owner by keeping it alive and enjoying its blossoms every year. Today is a day for me to practice just being in the now. My mind is anxious for things I can't control. I read a blog post yesterday about the ability to just "BE". That is my goal for the day to just be. Looking at something as simple yet as lovely as a flower helps center me and reminds me of the importance of the now. Time is so fleeting. Today just BE.

  1. Lily, Your rose bush is gorgeous. I love to grow roses and have about 26 bushes mostly tea roses. Here in the NW, the buds are just coming out. With a week of sun, they will bloom. I can't wait for fresh, fragrant rose bouquets in the house.

  2. Lorrie,
    (is that right?)
Sit in the sun and drink in the sweetness of your rose. That is enough. Never mind all the nagging thoughts, let go of what you think you need to do, forget everything. Just relax and enjoy. BE.

  4. Hello Lily
Thank you for visiting my blog. I love the name Lily. It is so feminine. You are so lucky with your flowers being in bloom already. My garden is lacking some colour, too much rain and not enough sun. Let's hope that will change soon although the forecast for this weekend is more rain!
    Take care

  5. Thinking of Bruce today. Sending positive energy and prayers for him on his interview. Your garden is beautiful. Remember some days we just have to take time to "smell the roses".

  6. It is important just to 'be' or 'live in the moment', isn't it. I really didn't want to have to walk the dog today, conditions were a bit grey and dreary but, 15 minutes later there were gannets diving close in to Porthmeor Beach, swallows flying overhead and blackbirds singing - and there's such a profusion of vegetation here in May. BFN.

  7. Hi Lorrie! I know so well about being anxious about things out of my control. I have a feeling that all those things will resolve themselves for you... Those roses are lovely - we had some old-fashioned roses in New Mexico and they smelled so good. Do yours have a scent? Sending lots of good thoughts!! Hugs, Silke
