Self portrait Friday

I'm posting a self portrait of myself sitting at the kitchen table studying away. I've been practicing at becoming comfortable with who I am and part of that involves being comfortable with what I look like. How long have I looked in the mirror and not really seen myself, it is time to start looking. And so photos- it is difficult to do but at Ninas suggestion over at Ornamental I'm going to try and post a self portrait every Friday. This is for me, not as vanity but as a way of getting to know myself better.

  1. You go girl! What a wonderful idea... I think your first self portrait is lovely and I look forward to seeing more. It's true, at least in my case, that when I see photos of myself (that may or may not be flattering) I learn a little more about myself. I've never had a self image problem (not that I'm saying you do) and have always tried to make other women aware that they are strong, intelligent, beautiful, courageous and caring... I may not really know you, but just the fact that you are doing this and from what I've learned from your blog, you are all that and more. Never doubt it!

  2. Great self portrait. I am pleased to meet you. We are all so self critical and it is good to learn to quiet that voice. Its an exciting journey. Happy travels.

  3. You are amazing, so strong, I am in awe of what you are doing. I am always the one behind the camera these days because I have not accepted gracefully this whole aging thing. I still think if we lived in a world without mirrors I would never know how I was aging, I still would see the image I saw many years ago.

  5. I love this, Lorrie!! You are amazing and this coincides with me today thinking how I need to feel better about how I look, how I am aging. I need to follow your example and get to know myself again - at this age, not how I used to be! Thank you!! Love, Silke

  12. I think thats a really interesting idea...I know what you mean about looking at yourself, you can look for so long the reflection becomes a stranger, I the worst thing is for me is when I catch myslef in a large mirror in a shop and for an instant I dont know its me...then I recognise myself...not a very nice experience by all accounts...H
